At Little Helpers, we believe in taking responsibility and teaching our children to act to make the world a special place; and participate in and contributes to the community at a range of levels from the local to the global. Our children, since last year, have been working on projects not only in Australia but also overseas. They started with their neighbouring country New Zealand and sent handmade cards with chocolates to staff and all children staying in the hospital on Christmas time. We are incredibly thankful to children, our volunteers who supported our initiatives in New Zealand, and Burwood Girls High School teachers for their continuous support for the project. Persistence and hard work make an unbeatable combination for success. There is nothing in this world that can replace persistence. The most crucial factor for character building is to keep on doing to embed in your personality, so it becomes your habit. Your habits shape your personality and who you are. We encourage our volunteers to do simple acts of kindness daily, so it becomes part of them. Every week they do many activities to support the elderly in these difficult times. Despite challenging weather conditions this weekend, our volunteers visited many nursing homes. These simple acts of kindness continue to make a difference in the mental health and wellbeing of our elderly. The most critical question we are facing now is what we are doing for those around us. We need each others support more than ever. Simple kindness gestures makes such an enormous impact on wellbeing of not only others but also us as well. Our children nicely packed the tea party treats provided by Burwood Council to distribute to our elderly. Everyone could use a little more kindness and spare some time every day to do something for others. Often kindness is done by engaging with those who are around us. However, the current pandemic has posed many challenges, particularly for our elderly, and it is essential to reach the elderly and find new ways to connect with them. A simple act of kindness is far more critical than ever. Our Little Helpers always find new ways to demonstrate empathy and compassion for their friends at nursing homes. Our elderly at Casa Mia Aged Care always makes sure to convey their love for our little ones by sending photos and messages. To be kind doesn't require extraordinary hard work or vast amounts of time. It just needs a caring person who cares for others and is passionate to help those in need. You can still find the time to do small acts of kindness if you are genuinely willing to do so! T the power of kindness and its benefits are immense for not just the receiver but ourselves. On weekends, our Little Helpers, despite their commitments, don't forget to visit nursing homes. They regularly visit many facilities and drop kindness cards and treats for their elderly friends.
